18th Annual
Great Southern Antique Car Rally

The Tallahassee Region was once again the reigning champs for participating clubs at the Great Southern Antique Car Rally. More than 100 vehicles were registered this year and our club once again showed it’s mettle by bringing 20 of them.

Friday evening’s dinner of barbeque and fixing's at the Regional Community Center was superb as usual. The motto of the rally is “Eat & Drive & Eat & Drive & Eat & Drive & Eat and Show” and as usual, we really lived up to it.

After dinner we were joined by many other non-registered but welcomed vintage/show/street vehicles for the annual Gas Light Parade through downtown Cairo. Once the line got rolling, it was easy to see why this is such an enjoyable event. You get to participate as well as see the whole parade as it doubles back on itself, not once, but twice. And a lot of Grady County, GA seemed to be lining the streets to see all the wonderful vehicles representing everything from vintage antiques to state-of-the-art late model street machines.

The pair leading the parade were antique farm tractors.

Next came the prime movers of this event each year and fellow TRAACA members, Wayne and Rosa Ann Hadden in their beautiful 1911 Ford Model T Torpedo Roadster.
