Annual Fund Raising Auction
and Chili Fest
2005

The annual gathering of the membership for its fund raising auction and chili dinner was a rousing success. The weatherman cooperated with gorgeous sunshine and mild temperatures. A great crowd of hopeful bidders was on hand to grab some treasures and raise funds for the club treasury.
More than 60 people gathered on the grounds of Richard and Mabel Duncan’s fine country home NE of Havana on a balmy Sunday afternoon. After perusing the items donated by club members, everyone gathered round under the leadership of our auctioneer, Russ Haynes. (And a fine job he did too!) There were so many items and bidding was so animated that a few grumbles were heard about being starved! Well needless to say, no one went away hungry, as there was plenty to eat and it was all well received. We do have some fine cooks in our club. And, of course, this club is well known for their penchant for eating well at club activities whether they be scheduled meetings or on the road!
It was reported that after all the bidding was done, the club was rewarded by the news that we had taken in over $1,000! That just shows that it wasn’t just “junk that was up for auction. Not only did the club benefit from the auction but it’s rolls increased as well by the addition of new members. A big welcome goes out to John & Rebecca Shaner, Robert & Arlene Finley and Max Zurko.
Our thanks go out also to our hosts Richard and Mabel. The sharing of their home was greatly appreciated by all and we hope to make this a real club tradition for many years to come!
