Record Funds Raised in Club Auction

The crowd gathers beneath the pecan trees in eager anticipation.

Bidding was spirited on the last Sunday in September 2003 when 43 Tallahassee Region AACA members gathered at Richard and Mabel Duncan's beautiful country acreage to hold our Eleventh Annual Club Auction and Chili Supper.  Members' donated lots of flea market items raising a record $646 which went into the club's treasury.

Auctioneer Carol at her best!

Vice President Carol Rainey sprinkled her auctioneering patter with humor which put buyers in the mood to bid on items even if they didn't need them.  And, there was something for everyone including plenty of car related stuff on the block, such as an early Ford radiator shell, a spare tire and a gallon of antifreeze.  But not every offering was connected to the old car hobby.  Among items going to the highest bidder were matching glass vases, a pottery oven baking dish, shoeshine kit, ice chest and several Coca-Cola collectibles.

Janet Ricketts, 1999 AACA National President and her husband John, who are active members of the Tallahassee Region, motored up from Tarpon Springs, Florida, to attend the business meeting preceding the auction and to take home some bargains.  On the agenda during the meeting was continuing planning for the Southeastern National Fall Meet to be held November 7 and 8, 2003 in Tallahassee.
