2005 Touring Season Gets Underway

The weather threatened but didn’t deter the faithful as we gathered on a gloomy Saturday morning at the Flying J Truck Stop west of town.

![]() The rest of the members in the more modern cars of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s made a fine parade along the back roads between Tallahassee and Quincy. (We would have had the 40’s represented, however it was storming something fierce when we were getting ready, so we played “sweep vehicle” this time.) |

Our first stop
was in the town of Quincy where we visited with club member Neal
Davis of N&E Machine and Tools and his auto restoration shop.
Several members were able to check on the progress of their vehicles
which are presently being worked on by Neal. |

Three more
vehicles joined the tour here and we rode a few blocks west to visit
with the nice folks of Hinson Oil Co.. The office and shop of Wilson
Hinson is in itself a small museum of petroliana associated with the
many years they were in business in the Quincy area. TRAACA members
Nell & Bobby Hollingsworth go way back with the Hinson's as
represented by the many visits we enjoy at the restored Gulf station
where Bobby got grease under his fingernails at an early age. |

| The tour continued along more back roads (actually these were the “main roads” in the 40’s and 50’s) as we made our way to the town of Bristol alongside the Apalachicola River. Here we gathered for our second favorite part of touring - eating, at the Apalachee Restaurant. | |
With the clearing weather and the great turnout, a great time was had by all and the 2005 tour season is well underway.
