September 26, 2009 - Annual Meet -  More than 200 cars and a terrific display of vintage aircraft combined with cool, rain-free weather to provide a terrific Wings and Wheels event for 2009.  With vehicles ranging from a 1907 Orient Surry to late model hot rods, there was truly something for everyone on the show field.  This year's event was actually split into three separate shows:  antiques and special interest cars for AACA class judging, an open event for day-of-meet registrants that also included late model and modified vehicles, and the annual Brits on the Bay show dedicated to all British marques.  Meet Chairman Dick Pensyl did an amazing job of coordinating with his excellent team of volunteers to keep things running smoothly.   Another new arrangement this year was pre-registration for the AACA Class Judging - registrars Richard and Sandy Hall were able to pre-print cards and judging forms for over 150 entries, and also provided accurate counts for field layout.  The show field opened at 7 am, with President Linda Pellerin and husband Bob, Dan Ciccone, Sam Kern, Bill Wilcox, Tony Scarpelli and Leslie McGinn greeting participants in period costumes.  The museum rolled out almost all of the aircraft, and flew two of them during the show.  Activities provided during the day include two presentations on the Model T by Terry Bond in the museum's theater, raffle and door prize drawings, and free popcorn provided by Dan Ciccone and his incredible 1929 Model A Cretor's Popcorn Truck.  There were plenty of spectators to enjoy the show, thanks to great coverage by local auto editor Larry Printz in the Virginian Pilot.  The show ended with an awards ceremony where participating cars received AACA Class trophies and special recognitions.  Many thanks go to all of the TRAACA volunteers who made our show a tremendous success!
