It turned out to be a beautiful Saturday evening when we started our
annual progressive dinner with appetizers on the patio at the home
of Philip Williams. Having this event later in the year gave us
cooler weather and lower humidity which enticed more of our members
to bring out their classic car even with the threat of showers.
After enjoying the company and quickly devouring the delicious
treats, we jumped into our cars and headed for Peterson's
Harley-Davidson for the main course and dessert.
At the second portion of the progressive dinner, we enjoyed a fine
Italian meal in the covered party area at the rear of the
dealership. Tables were decorated with miniature cars which the
young people enjoyed. The ample delicious food was generously served
by Adele Mann, Kit Goebel, Ann Marie Clyatt, Mel Mann, and Ira
Shapiro. Once we finished our dinner, saving some room for dessert
and coffee, we enjoyed each other's company swapping car stories,
wandering the impressive showroom and catching up on the doings in
everyone's life. Each venue was special, the food was good, and
best of all the company was great!
We have many people to thank: Philip for sharing his home for the
appetizer course; Mel Mann for working with Bill Archer of the Big
Cheese who provided the appetizers and entree and making the
arrangements at Peterson's Harley Davidson; Ed Carrera, general
manager of Peterson's Harley-Davidson, for hosting the dinner and
dessert courses; Jesse Kelley, Paul Cotner, Juan González, and Tony
Cueva for setting up the tables and chairs; Minnie Kelley, Joyce
Cotner, John Jones, and Carolyn Thiele assisting with last minute
details; and a HUGE thank you goes to Jean and Maurice Hawa for
doing the yeomen's work (planning, buying supplies, decorating,
transporting everything, etc.) of putting all the pieces together to
make this year’s very event special. |
