Welcome to the Pottstown Region AACA website. The Pottsown Region, a chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America welcomes your interest in our car club. Owning an old car is not a requirement. For one to two members per household membership is $12 per year, which includes all issues of the Nuts, Bolts and Sparkplugs Newsletter. Membership in the National AACA is a prerequisite for membership in the Pottstown Region AACA. This region was established in 1952 and has been actively providing many tours, and events throughout the year including once a month dinner meeting and breakfast. Presidents Message March 2010 After another record snowfall, the encouraging thing is that spring is just a month away. That means that our car hobby can go into high speed excitement! The club tour to the C.F. Martin Guitar factory on March 3rd was one of the best tours that we have done for a long time! The Martin tour guide gave us an excellent and very detailed tour of the operation. It is a great manufacturing facility. If you were not able to join us on the March 3 tour, I would highly recommend that you try to get there on your own. Thanks to Joe and Judy Alackness for setting up the tour, the lunch and the club meeting at The Boyertown Café. Our March 6th Club Breakfast was held at the Energy Station in Vernfield. Thanks to Roland Spaar for setting that up. Following the breakfast some of us went to the Detail Seminar at Pollocks Restoration Shop in Pottstown. The seminar was excellent! The demonstration was given by a Concour-prep specialist. He gave us good information about buying products that do the best job. He wasn’t pushing any certain brands….just showing the products that work the best. For those of you who are the more senior or long-time club members, you might remember the monthly club meetings that we held at the Pollock Restoration Shop. Well, I heard some rumors that we may be invited back for a special meeting at the new restoration shop. A few words about some upcoming club events. Warren and Edie Manning have made arrangements for the April 3rd club breakfast at the Heritage restaurant in Franconia. Following the breakfast they will take us to a race car collection in Harleysville. Sounds like fun to me! See the Events calendar in this newsletter for directions and details for this as well as all other club events. April 7th is our club meeting at P.C. Como in Pennsburg. Dinner at 6 pm and meeting at 7 pm. Some interesting entertainment is being planned. Other dates to keep on your calendar: May 1st – club breakfast and tour of a great Hudson collection—Carl and Lois Dries May 5th – Meeting and Hobby/ Craft Night at P.C. Como – John and Kathy McCarthy June 11 – Egg Tour in Ephrata – Don Ludwig One other subject that I would like to mention…During the March meeting it was reported that we now have 101 members. I think it would be great if we could actually have all 101 members attend at a meeting. Do you think this is possible? Are you up to the challenger? How many inactive members can you urge to come to a meeting? See you down the newly paved road….. Bob You are visitor
