February 20th Koch's museum call Ellis Ulrich 262-5698
We are planning our first AACA group
outing of 2010 and hope everyone can join us. Our destination is the museum and
collection of Chris and Kathleen Koch, just north of Palm Coast near Washington
Oaks State Park.
From Jacksonville, the drive time is 1.5 hours, so we would like to gather
everyone together at the rest stop on I-95 just south of I-295 around 8:15 a.m.
and depart the rest stop at exactly 8:30 a.m. We will then travel I-95 to exit
SR 206 and meet the Ford V-8 Club from Trenton and Gainesville’s AACA Club at
the Flying J Truck stop at 9:30 a.m. We’ll spend a minimum of time here
allowing for fuel and potty break and then we’ll drive 206 east and A1A North to
the best porcelain sign collection and museum you’ll see in north Florida.
What should you drive? Since it’s a long trip and we would like to drive 65
mph, we welcome any vehicle that can maintain that pace. It would also be fun
and an excellent opportunity to invite someone to ride with you and enjoy the
tour together. This tour is perfect for new, perspective, and long time members
that we haven’t seen for while. We promise you will not be bored!
After the tour, we will caravan to a restaurant just south of the Koch’s for a
dutch-treat lunch that we’ll all be ready to enjoy! We should be ready to
depart after lunch for our return home.
****The only request from
the Koch's is that they know exactly
how many to expect.
****We would greatly appreciate a return email by Friday, February 5, 2010 with
the names of all attending in your group and a cell phone number that we may
use to contact you during the trip.
The attached picture was taken several
years ago and we hear the collection has almost doubled. In addition to the
signs and collectibles, their automobiles are wonderful and very unique. Bring
your camera and be prepared for a fun outing!

Puttering four-bangers and snarling Hemi V-8s were on view at the North Florida Region Antique Automobile Club of America's annual car show May 5 at the Morocco Temple at 3800 St. Johns Bluff Road S.
Joining with the Cruisin' Mopars of Jax, the show had 105 vehicles spread across the parking lot under sunny skies, some of the earliest autos being Carla Looney's unrestored 1912 Buick and its stablemate, Joel Looney's 1913 White Touring.
This was the AACA region's 34th annual show, and the first time it was held at the site of the former Wolfson baseball park downtown with 36 cars. A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Boys Home.
