Host Site:      Days Hotel of Metairie, 3400 I-10 Service Road South, Metairie, LA 70001, (877)-835-9787, (toll free).  Please make your reservations by April 29, 2008, mentioning “AACA Louisiana Region Tour”, to get the negotiated room rate of $75.00.

 

Directions:   I-10, Exit 228, South (Causeway Blvd.), Metairie, LA.  At the second traffic light, turn right onto West Napoleon Ave.  Turn right onto Severn Avenue.  Turn right at the “T” intersection to the I-10 Service Road South.  The Days Hotel of Metairie is located on your right, next door to an IHOP Restaurant.

 

Registration:  Friday 10:00 AM-1:00 PM, and 4:00-5:00 PM, and on Saturday from 7:00-7:45 AM.

 

Hospitality Room:  A “Pot Luck” luncheon will be served on Friday during registration.  A Continental Breakfast will be available on Saturday 6:00-7:45 AM, and on Sunday 6:30-9:00 AM.

 

Friday’s Early Bird Tour:  Departing at 1:00 PM, going to Kenner’s River Town, visiting the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame Museum, Toy Train Museum, Mardi Gras Museum, Science Complex Observatory, Planetarium/Mega Dome Cinema (2 shows), and the Cannes Brulee Native American Village.

 

Friday’s Dinner: K of C Hall in Kenner, LA. Social hour at 6:00-7:00 PM (Cash bar), dinner of meatballs and spaghetti will be served at 7:00 PM, deserts will be provided by the host clubs.  After dinner we will be awarding of door prizes, followed by the musical entertainment of “Rockin Billy” Billy Oubre.

 

Saturday’s Mega Tour:  Departing at 8:00 AM, with a scenic drive down New Orleans’ historic St. Charles Avenue, followed by a visit to the National World War II Museum in New Orleans.  This museum will leave you with long lasting memories of the sacrifices made for the freedoms that we all enjoy.  Our next stop will be lunch, c offee, Mardi Gras king cake and a tour of Mardi Gras World, which is located at Kern Studios, in Algiers.  Kern Studios is where the majority of the “super” floats for numerous New Orleans Mardi Gras Parade Krews are designed, built and stored. *****You will need $1.00 for a toll on the return trip to New Orleans. *****

 

Regional Board Meeting: Saturday May 10, 2008, 5:00 PM, K of C Hall, 2nd Floor, in Kenner, LA.

 

Saturday’s Banquet/Awards: “May Mardi Gras Madness”.  Dress in your favorite carnival costume.  

K of C Hall in Kenner, LA. Social hour (Cash Bar) 6:00-7:00 PM, dinner of Fried Fish and Shrimp (both), served at 7:00 PM followed by awards.  Musical entertainment will be by “Benny Grunch and the Bunch”.
