Making Memories
My whole life, like yours, is full of
memories. The bad ones we tend to
forget and the good ones are remembered as the best of times.
One of my favorite memories was December
28, 1965, while stationed at Chu Lai in South Viet Nam, was when the reality of me being in the service
at war was realized. On that day I got
to meet Bob Hope and his USO Show. It
was really a great moment for me.
Another good memory for me was when I became of member of AACA, and I am
still having fun being a member.
While I am remembering good times, I
can’t forget the time in De Ridder, LA while we were on a Contraband Tour, did
it ever rain. Even with the heavy rain only 2 or 3 couples didn’t ride out the
tour in the rain to the end. We toured Fort Polk, LA by running in pouring down
rain, from one museum to another, then to the original USO building, and
finally touring the barracks area of the base.
While we were on the tour we had great fun with “twisted nails”. Oh!!
You don’t remember any of this?
I guess you weren’t there. Those
of you who don’t go on the tours hosted in our region are missing so much good
fun, and a great time with friends.
As Regional President, I am asking that
on the next tour, (CENLA), each Chapter try to bring along one of your members
who has never been a tour. Let’s make
our tours grow.
Meanwhile keep those old girls polished
and rolling. Hope to see you at the
up-coming tours in Vidalia and Lake Charles, LA.
Happy Motoring!
