“Making Memories”
The tours hosted by the Louisiana chapters are off to a
great start with CENLA in Vidalia, LA and Contraband in Lake Charles, LA. Touring is a great way to go to places and
do that you probably would have not done or gone to, had it not been for the
tour.
For the most part, our generation is slowly passing
away. We no longer have drive-ins
movies, Saturday night dances, and cruising on Main Street. Tell your children about the local “Lovers
Lane” and their response is not going to be “I don’t know about it”, but
rather, “You mean that you were young once”.
When you are at a car show or outing, and a person asks
questions about your car, answer by telling them about your car, but also
invite him/her to attend one of your monthly chapter meetings. Once bitten by the hobby, their toys will
never change. It is important for us to
grow. Having an AACA membership
increase in the Louisiana Region by 10% would be nice.
As for memories, I remember the tour to Donaldsonville,
LA. While at the “No Problem Raceway”, the group was invited to drive on their
track, but we had to stay behind their track pace car. I seem to remember a
1952 Ford Victoria with a flathead V8 (slightly modified), that was stuck on
the pace car’s bumper as he made his way around the track. I also remember a
wife, telling her husband that it wasn’t fair for him to drive the around the
track with their car, and not her, and that she wanted to have a turn: which
she did. How about the snow, sleet and
rain in Vidalia, LA on the CENLA “Spring” Tour in 2008? You say don’t remember
any of this, well than I guess you missed these tours.
Those of you who don’t go on the tours, which are by
the hosted the Chapters in the Louisiana Region, are missing so much fun, and
having a great time with friends.
If you make a tour, and I have never met you, please
come and introduce yourself to me.
Meanwhile keep those old girls polished and
rolling. I hope to see you at the
upcoming Louisiana Chapter’s tours in Lake Charles and Crowley, and the LA Tour
in New Orleans.

Having Fun” Warren Ferlandy
