It Finally Happened!
by Chuck Weimer

After searching for four years, it finally happened!  I purchased a classic muscle car in the fall of 2018. Since my father was a Buick salesman for about 40 years, it was fitting that I own a Buick again, so the search started. Many road trips, some overnighters, one plane flight and I even took Tim Cryan along on two difference occasions. Both were long day trips, and coming up empty handed one after the other. Then one day last August, I found a new listing for a 1970 Buick GS Stage 1 in the on-line version of Hemmings - it looked nice!. There was no phone number in the add, just "reply to seller" by email. After sending three emails the first week, I did not get a reply. Over the next two weeks, I sent an additional seven emails, and still not reply. I searched other web sites looking for any information on this car but found nothing. I said to myself, it must be sold and I lost out on that one. Well not yet. It was a Friday night in September about 10 pm and my cell phone was ringing. I wondered who was calling. I looked at the out-of-town area code and thought it was just another telemarketer. I am not sure what possessed me to answer, but I did. The caller said, "I'm look for Chuck", so I want along, said "you got him" and then he said "this is Scott. I have the GS for sale". How unexpected that call was! Scott explained that all the emails were going to Spam, and he did not notice that for weeks. He also said I send the first three then some from others and then seven more from me. He said, looks like you are interested, and I replied "yes I am". After a few weeks of negotiations, we made a deal and he delivered the car to me in his enclosed trailer from Iowa. Scott, his wife, their son and daughter-in-law always wanted to see Niagara Falls, so that was some motivation for him to deliver the car. That first weekend with the car, I had many visitors stopping by to take a look.
About the car: 1970 Buick GS Stage 1, numbers matching 455 cid, automatic transmission and posi-traction rear axle.
