All eyes were focused on Sandy Neidigh when the drawing was held at the end of the general membership meeting on Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia. Cameras were poised, ready to snap a picture of the winner. No one came forward.

Following the drawing L&RC President, Jeff Lesher called the telephone number on the winning ticket. The winner was nineteen month old Zeb. When I spoke with Shelly, Zeb’s mother, she stated, “The family was totally surprised by the call.” It seems that his  grandfather, Alfred Mason purchased the raffle tickets at the Fall Hershey meet putting the names of his two granddaughters and Zeb, the youngest and only grandson on the tickets. According to Shelly, “Al has been going to Hershey for twenty some years. He loves antique cars and restoring them. For the last twelve years he has shown his 1959 Corvette. Prior to showing his car he found that Hershey was a great place to look for parts for the Corvette and several other cars he is working on.” Shelly said their family usually goes to the Fall meet on Saturday, thus making this a family affair. While it was disappointing that one of the granddaughters didn’t win the pedal airplane it is sort of neat that Zeb, the youngest and only grandson won it. Hopefully this will become a collector item for Zeb in about fifty years.

Proceeds from the pedal airplane raffle benefit the Glen Neidigh Memorial Fund. Sandy Neidigh has been donating pedal vehicle raffle items with the proceeds from these raffles benefiting the Library and Research Center Endowment Fund.
