T roof a car featuring removable glass roof panels over the two front seats
tachometer gauge that reads the revolutions per minute of the engine. It is equivalent to speed of the engine. It also tells how fast the engine is running so that if you have a manual transmission you know when to shift gears
Taillight indicator lights at the rear of the car. Brake lights (red) come on when the brake is depressed. Usually combined with a parking light and a turn signal. The turn signal can be amber or red and indicates which way the driver is going next. Parking lamps are used to see the car in the dark. Usually red.  
Third Brake Light a red brake light mounted at eye level at the rear of the car that only comes on when the brake is depressed. Also known as a "high-mount brake light".  
tonneau the rear compartment of a car body, usually an open touring body
tonneau cover a cover of leather or other soft pliable material used for protecting the interior of a convertible when the soft top is down. The cover snaps to the dash, sides and rear of the vehicle and often has a zipper allowing the driver to operate the vehicle while the passenger side of the vehicle remains covered.
top boot the cover that goes over a lowered convertible top
transmission a mechanism that includes the gears, linking the power produced by the engine to the drive wheels.
tread the pattern that is designed into the area of the tire that comes into contact with the road (or other driving surface). These patterns or groves in the tire provide increased traction
under carriage supporting structure and framework. Essentially, it is the under-side of the vehicle
VIN Vehicle Identification Number: the identification code number assigned to an individual car by the factory; usually appearing on a plate affixed to the driver's door or dashboard
water-cooled an engine which is cooled by antifreeze in contrast with an air-cooled engine
water pump a device that circulates the liquid through the cooling system by pumping it from the engine water jackets to the radiator
wheel this is what the tire is mounted on. Wheels can be made of steal or an alloy, such as aluminum.
Wheelbase the distance between the front and rear axle centerlines  
Wheel cover a protective, ornamental disc of metal that covers an entire wheel. Different from a hubcap, which covers only the center of the wheel
wheel nut Br) lug nut
window strap a strap attached to the base of a window which passed the body up to the sill and into the interior of the car. It could be used to pull the window up. Holes in the strap could be buckled against an interior pin to hold the window at various elevations.
windshield the primary piece of glass in front of the driver and front passenger. In some older vehicles, there were two pieces of glass. Both are considered the windshield.
