Christies
Getting Out of Used Car Business
After 25 years in the used car business,
Christie's
International Motor Cars has established a reputation for selling
some of the world's rarest, most expensive and coveted vehicles in the
business. Most recently, the auction house sold Steve McQueen's 1963
Ferrari 250 GT Lusso at Pebble Beach. McQueen's car sold for $2.31
million, nearly doubling pre-sale estimates.
However, as with all good things, the famous auction house's auto
auctions are coming to an end.

behind. |

Three
Months Later, Tulsarama Officials Still Uncertain Who Owns Car
The ultimate fate of Tulsa's buried Belvedere is still
uncertain nearly three months after "Miss Belvedere" made her first
grand appearance in 50 years.
The car, which suffers from extensive damage after being submerged in
conditions described as a "watery grave" for an unknown number of years,
was to have been presented earlier this month to the winner of a contest
conducted a half-century ago.
However, nearly three months later, contest officials are still working
behind the scenes to determine who will inherit the rusty relic.
CLICK HERE to see what the future holds for "Miss Belvedere."

California
"Sideshow" Car Seizure Ordinance Moves Forward
We've all done it... burned a little rubber off of our tires in
a moment of youthful exuberance. While in most places this act of
youthful indiscretion might cost you a slap on the wrist, or possibly
even a ticket, if you are cruising through California, you might just
want to be extra careful.
The California Assembly unanimously passed a measure last week reviving
the state's so-called "sideshow" car seizure ordinance that had lapsed
earlier this year.

OCW
Reader Forum: When I Was a Child...
My first "new" car was a black 1949 Chevy fastback, brand
new after the war!
I was teaching all week and enjoyed putting many miles on my car. When
it needed new tires, I took a job weekends as a waitress at the
"Lighthouse" to earn some extra money.
My friends Betty and Bill introduced me to a nice guy named Jack who
liked cars, too. After waiting for me a few Saturday nights as I
waitressed, he arrived with four new tires for my car.
That did it! Not only did I quit, but we have been married 55 years!
Now we have 13 antique and classic cars we both enjoy.
OldCarsWeekly.com wants to know what lasting memories cars
have brought to your life.

Bonhams
to Auction Corgi Model Car Collection
As toy collectors know, Corgi was one of the first to produce
limited-edition toys specifically for collectors. Until now, it has been
Corgi's policy to keep a tight grip on the first item off the production
line for its archive.
That is, until now!
Bonhams, the international fine art auctioneers, has been appointed by
Corgi to sell its archive of coveted prototype and "number one"
vehicles.
CLICK HERE to find out how you can own the very first Corgi James
Bond 007 model and much more.
