Swing by the parking lot. You never know what you're missing.

[description]Sure, car shows are great venues for meeting with friends and taking in some nice rides, but there's more to a car show than what is behind the ropes. There's also the parking lot!

Simple parking lots can be a field of treasure. Not everyone can stay for a whole day at a car show, but they want to be sure to take in an event's sights while they have time. And if it's a nice day, you can bet they drove their old car to the event, even if they didn't plan on entering their car in the show.

To take a stroll through the parking lot with Angelo, click HERE.

And, according to eBay spokesperson Catherine England, when, and if, the transaction is finalized, the car will be the most expensive item ever sold on the popular auction site.

Gunner's Garage: I don't need another...

[description]A trip to a local salvage yard leads to a heart-wrenching decision: "So wouldn't you know it ... we get to Sunset Curve and there sits a vehicle that definitely needs a collector to own it. We never even heard of a KING truck before, but it appears to be some type of Japanese, Korean (or maybe even Chinese) model. It actually reminded us of some Volkswagen models of years ago, but it had a Toyota flavor to it as well."

Does John give in to his primal urges and buy this unique find?

Hold on to your chapeaux: Citroëns roll into Nashville

[description]If you believe that the most popular item ever to come out of France is the fries — then hang on to your chapeaux, because the Lane Motor Museum is prepared to set the record straight by showcasing France's most popular car during the featured "Hold Your Horses: The History of the Deux Chevaux (Two Horsepower - Citroën 2CV Exhibit)."

Rolls-Royces roll into battle against cancer

[description]Richard J. Solove's passion for his cherished collection of Rolls-Royce automobiles is almost as strong as his determination to find a cure for cancer.

The Ohio-based real-estate developer hopes to contribute more than $15 million to fund research in the battle against cancer by putting his collection of 13 historic Rolls-Royces on the auction block this fall.

To check out the collector cars Mr. Solove is preparing to sell, click HERE.

Duesenbergs arrive at Blackhawk Museum

[description]It took less than a quarter century for two immigrant brothers to change the face of American automobile companies forever. Fred and August Duesenberg, self-taught engineers, founded the Duesenberg Automobile & Motors Co. Inc. in 1913 to build sports cars. But what began as the cultivation of a powerful race car evolved into the production of the finest luxury automobile in America.

The Blackhawk Museum in Danville, Calif., is gearing up to feature five rare Model J and SJ Duesenberg automobiles through the end of November.

To learn more about this fascinating display, click HERE.

Hillbilly Hoax: Bogus $10 M bid for General Lee

[description]After riding high on the wave of publicity following the nearly $10 million eBay bid for his version of the iconic "General Lee" late last week, former "Dukes of Hazzard" star John Schneider may be feeling "lower than a snake's belly in a wagon rut" today.

According to reports, the winning bid was a hoax and could lead to a legal tussle that may just require the services of good ol' Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane to sort out.

To learn what's happening in Hazzard County now that Bo won't be selling his car for a cool $10M, click HERE.

Vegas or Bust: Barrett-Jackson bluffing in Scottsdale?

[description]The scenery surrounding the January auction action in Scottsdale, Ariz., may change dramatically, if Craig Jackson of Barrett-Jackson doesn't get what he wants from the city.

The well-known seller of high-end classics has threatened to scale back the auction company's January sale from its longtime home and start a new Las Vegas venue, if the city doesn't meet some of his demands.

To check out Barrett-Jackson's list of demands and find out if city officials intend to fold, click HERE.

[description]Fishy Tale: '61 Galaxie hooked at Wisconsin lake

They didn't find Jimmy Hoffa but a mystery remains surrounding a car raised from Long Lake, east of Centuria, Wis., recently.

According to local reports, a whopper of a 1961 Ford Galaxie was pulled out of the mud and muck of Long Lake recently after local residents spotted the classic cruiser rusting away on the bottom of their lake. Local authorities are still uncertain who the car belongs to, how it ended up as a retirement home for local catfish or even how long it had been submerged. The only thing most of the parties involved with the catch can agree on... is that this one is definitely a keeper.

To learn more about this local mystery, click HERE.

George Barris called on the (red) carpet

It's been the car hobby's dirty little secret, but now that secret is being shouted across all forms of media – George Barris didn't build the original Monkeemobiles, "Dukes of Hazzard" Dodge Chargers or "Back to the Future" DeLorean.

During the renaming of Los Angeles' Riverside Drive and Riverton Avenue to George Barris Place on March 23, several famous cars and replicas from the Barris Star Cars Collection were on exhibit. Let's just say that the folks over at Universal Studios took notice... and possibly even legal action.

Will George Barris find a way out of this legal predicament?
Will his "Back to the Future" DeLorean ever see the light of day?
Tune in next week to find out what happens to the "King of Kustomizers," or you can simply click, HERE.

Call the cops, Cletus! The world has gone mad!

[description]Every once in a while, the old car hobby surfaces in the mainstream media. It's unfortunate when the news centers on the value of our cars, because there's much more to this hobby than dollar values of our cars.

The most recent incident revolves around a 1969 Dodge Charger owned by John Schneider, who co-starred in the TV series "Dukes of Hazzard."

Even after several swigs of Alabama moonshine, there's no way anyone call sell me on the idea that a recreation of a TV show car is worth almost $10 million, even if it was built for one of the people who helped make it famous.

Great Race — You Only Need To Do It Once

If your budget doesn't have a "Great Race" category, find some friends and pool your resources. Or find a sponsor. Or rob a bank. Or sell Kool-Aid. Do something. If you love old cars, Old Glory and telling your grandkids stories when you get old — then find a way to do the Great Race.

When it's over, your bones may creak and you may have to re-restore your car, but your life will never be the same.

Way back in 1984, John Gunnell was fortunate enough to tag along with many of the great racers of the year. His bones may still be creaking, but his memories of this exciting event live on.

Click here to follow John on his "Great Race" journey.

[description]Common Thieves Steal Rare Car, Parts

If you steal the Mona Lisa, the world is going to notice. If you steal a car in which just 57 remain, especially when it bears the Duesenberg eagle on its radiator, car collectors are going to jump out of their car's bucket seats.

Thieves in Los Angeles County learned the hard way that stealing a very rare car, and then attempting to fence the "loot" on eBay, was not the best way to keep a low profile.

To learn more about these knuckle-heads, click HERE.

[description]British Legends Gather in Ohio

The annual Ault Park Concours d' Elegance is rapidly approaching. If a "Legends of British Motoring" themed event is your "cup of tea" then you will definitely enjoy the show's 30th anniversary celebration.

So smear a bit of marmalade on your crumpet, throw a Beatles album on the record player and click HERE to learn more.

[description]Tulsarama: What Will The Plymouth Be Worth?

What will the 1957 Plymouth Belvedere that is now buried beneath the Tulsa Courthouse lawn be worth once its unearthed, assuming it's in No. 3 condition?

[description]Blue Oval Muscle Highlighted At Carlisle

Leave your Chevy at the levy, but bring your Ford to Carlisle, Pa. Fairgrounds June 1-3 for the 13th Annual All-Ford National Blue Oval event.

In addition to the expanse of Blue Oval muscle that will be on display, "A Rare Pair" has been assembled for the first time. A 1929 Model A sedan and a '29 Model A closed-cab truck that were purchased as siblings before being separated just a few years later are to be reunited and exhibited in restored condition for the first time ever.
