Headquarters Starting

Meet Karen White!
As Michael Jones began his term as 2009 National President, he
emphasized the importance of "service beyond self"... Karen
certainly embodies this caring attitude AND she put these
altruistic words into action recently when she came to the aid
of an ailing member over a thousand miles away!
During a telephone conversation with a member from Minnesota,
Karen quickly recognized that the gentleman was not well and
was determined to secure immediate assistance for him. After
trying several different avenues including contacting local
AACA region officers and reaching out to neighbors, she placed
a call to the local authorities to alert them ~ the Sheriff
and local emergency personnel responded swiftly and our member
was transported to the hospital. Karen's decisive and
compassionate intervention made a huge difference, very
possibly, a life saving one!
Please join our Board in thanking Karen for being a
HERO, as well as inspiring and reminding us all to be "heroes"
when called upon ... BRAVO KAREN!
Karen has been part of the AACA family since May 1985.
Although she pitches in whenever and wherever necessary, her
primary areas of responsibility include membership
administration, mail/UPS communications and merchandise
management. When you host a National event, she will
collaborate with you to provide an array of quality AACA
merchandise.
"I take pride in helping our
members, assisting them with their questions and concerns, and
fulfilling merchandise requests in a timely
manner," Karen adds.
Karen enjoys spending time with her two daughters,
Danielle and Allison, and supporting their many
activities. Armed with her Associates degree in baking and
pastry from Baltimore International College (BIC),
Danielle, 20, is currently attending Harrisburg Area
Community College (HACC) pursuing a business degree. Her
youngest, Allison, 16, plays the saxophone in the
Palmyra Area High School band.
A native of Palmyra, Pennsylvania,
Karen is an active member of Bethany United Methodist
Church, singing in the choir. You can also find her reading
a good book or gardening in her flowerbeds..

AACA Library &

Coming Soon...
Library CHIP
for Junior Members!
The
AACA
Library and Research Center
has started to develop a CHIP Program for our junior members, 12 and
under.
The
AACA CHIP program
is an educational and youth development program that allows youth of
all ages (5 years and up) to participate and learn about all aspects
of motorized vehicles,
the transportation industry, and the skills (mechanical and
artistic) required by the various maintenance, restoration and
preservation projects. Further, participants benefit from the
accomplishment of carrying a project from beginning to a successful
conclusion, working on activities as an individual or with a group.
Earning the library CHIP will offer an opportunity to learn not
only what is housed in the AACA Library
& Research Center, but also how to use each item. For
example, children will learn about
our online catalog,
how to use indexes in books and catalogs, and how to track down more
resources that may be of use to them for school or personal
projects. The library CHIP will likely be available in late 2009 or
early 2010.
