Rare Wills Sainte Claire joins AACA Museum Collection

This rare car was donated by Mr. William R. Hunsburger of Hagerstown, Maryland. It is a second generation family heirloom that was treated to an award-winning restoration prior to its donation.

The Wills Sainte Claire Motor Company was founded by C. Harold Wills in 1921. Its home was in the small town of Marysville, Michigan and its factory was located on the shores of the St. Clair River. Wills combined his name with that of the river to form his company’s moniker, adding the letter “e“ because it elevated the cache of his product. The Wills Sainte Claire was one of literally hundreds of upstart automobiles looking for buyers in the first quarter of the 20th century.
