In conjunction with the Studebaker Drivers Club International Meet that was recently held in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the AACA Museum in Hershey is holding a special Studebaker exhibit featuring not only its cars but Studebaker-built horse-drawn vehicles from the 1890s.

Vehicles to be displayed include a Doctor’s carriage from the 1890s, a 1911 Studebaker EMF, 1927 Erskine, 1931 President Convertible, 1941 President four-door sedan, a 1950 pick up truck, a 1952 convertible, a 1963 Avanti R-2, and a fresh barn-find 1941 President recently discovered in a barn less than 50 miles from the museum where it had been stored for over 50 years.

The 1931 Studebaker President Convertible used during the administration of Governor Gifford Pinchot, of Pennsylvania, is on display as well. These significant Studebakers will be on view until Sunday, October 12, which is the weekend of the Hershey Fall Meet held just down the road. The museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m..

AACA museum helps Tinseltown at holidays
The holiday movie season will include some old cars, as the Antique Automobile Club of America Museumhttp://www.aacamuseum.org/ in Hershey, Pa., has supplied several vehicles to Universal Studio’s “The Good Shepherd,” due out Dec. 22. The movie chronicles the birth of the Central Intelligence Agency from the 1930s to the 1950s.

The AACA museum supplied about 10 cars for the filming, and several of them will be on display at the museum beginning Dec. 22, including a 1936 Ford Cabriolet convertible coupe, a 1936 Packard convertible sedan, a 1953 Kaiser Manhattan and a 1954 Chevy Wagon.

Thanks to our friends from The Wisconsin Region we have some great pictures of the AACA Museum inside and outside.  The Illinois Region, along with all six Chapters, got together to donate to the AACA Museum Brick Program.  The Illinois Region grouping of bricks include The Region brick surrounded by all six Chapter bricks.  Click on the pictures to get a bigger view.

Here is a more recent picture of our Bricks taken by Pat Foltz with the latest addition to the Illinois Region group of Bricks.  You too can have a Brick located where you want it. Call the AACA Museum and  request to be placed by the Illinois Region group of Bricks.  Call 717-566-7100 today to learn more!!

For the past couple years The Illinois Region has made a contribution to the AACA Museum in the form of a check. This was made possible by donations from Cross Roads Chevrolet & Buick which the Illinois Region matched and presented at the National Meetings in Philadelphia.  This past year our President, Laura McDonald, wanted to see if we could contribute in a different way.  A call was made to Patrick Foltz,  Executive Director of the AACA Museum, and the opportunity had just presented itself to frame some prints for the Museum.  They needed a Sponsor!  Arrangements were made, Laura gave one of her memorable presentations at the National Meeting which had everyone rolling in the aisles, and within a few months, as you can see, the prints are on the wall!!

Pat Foltz has gone out of his way to help us with the Brick Program and more recently has given us the opportunity to sponsor the Ken Dallison prints.  Pat took a photograph of the Prints in the Museum Board Room and as you can see they will be a fine addition to that room for years to come. Four of the thirteen prints bear commemorative plaques identifying the Illinois Region as the sponsor.  We are the only Region/Chapter to sponsor these awesome looking prints!!  The other prints are sponsored by Board Members.  Thanks again Pat!!

The AACA Museum is located off Route 39 West, one mile from the Hersheypark Drive intersection. The Museum currently displays over 90 historic automobiles and buses, many in dramatic settings that recall the period of their use. It is open Wednesday through Sunday, 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Admission is charged. For additional information call 717-566-7100.
