Welcome to
SPEEDSTER... From east to west,
AACA Events
are in full swing!
During the March 15-18 Western Divisional Tour, hosted by
the Mother Lode Region, AACA members and guests got behind
the wheel and explored the sites and scenes of beautiful
Sonora,
 California
in the Sierra foothills.
Yes, they discovered "Gold Again in California", it was in
the form of fun, friendship and internal combustion
(vehicles, that is!)

Tour. Photos below: From the 2009 Southeastern Spring Meet.

Back east, from April 2-5, the Hornets Nest Region
hosted the Southeastern Spring Meet in exciting
Charlotte, North Carolina. "Nothing could be finer
... than Carolina," described not only the
gorgeous weather, but also the rainbow of splendid
antique vehicles and the hobbyist camaraderie! Of
the nearly 370 vehicles registered, 300 received
awards ...

URGENT, ON THE PROWL!
We need your help!
Traditionally our raffles have been $50 per ticket but this
year we reduced it to $20 per ticket in the hopes of selling
5,000 tickets. Our sales have been slower than we expected
and as such we are reaching out to our loyal members to ask
for your help.
We hope that you and/or your
region can buy or sell tickets to each other or to the
public at one of your upcoming events. Call
Pat Frantz at headquarters, 717-534-1910, and she will mail
you any quantity of tickets you need. If all our regions
would take just 10 tickets we would be well on our way to
success! Most regions should be able to take many more than
10!
To donate, you can also
tickets via PayPal (scroll down on right-hand side) or
just call us at 717-534-1910.
The raffle supports our museum, library and the club. As
such, getting behind this effort is one of the best ways you
can help the entire AACA family very easily. Please
consider "stepping up to the plate". Thank
you in advance!

Headquarters
Starting Grid...

Chances are good
that you have already spoken to or met Pat, as she is
involved in many facets of AACA operations!
Pat has been an
integral part of the AACA team since November 1986.
Although she will always "do whatever it takes" to get the
job done, her primary duties include
accounting administration, computer (IT) systems
management, website and database maintenance, and National
meet brochure compilation.
"I appreciate the variety my job at AACA offers,
allowing me to be involved and challenged in several
different ways," Pat adds. "And, I particularly cherish
the relationships I have built over the years with our
members."
Pat is a very active member of the Hershey Region and
Gettysburg Region. She devotes much of her free time
assisting at AACA events helping to ensure their
success.
A Pennsylvania native, originally from the Broad Top
area, Pat has called Central PA home since the early
eighties. When not working, she tries to make time to
attend a NASCAR Race and cheer for her favorite driver,
Jeff Gordon # 24, to play with her energetic cat,
Jackson ( pictured on the left), and to spend
time with her nieces, nephews and friends.
When
in Hershey, be sure to visit your
Headquarters

Enhanced Preservation Participation Award

So you open the mail
up, receive a nice rectangle badge the same size as a
standard meet preservation chip, and you may wonder.....
What the heck is this?
A few years ago,
National Director Hulon McCraw proposed a new program to
recognize those of you who continue to bring your cars to
meets well after you earn your mug or plate (which takes 5
certificates).
As such, the Board
approved a program to send you incremental awards from 10,
15, 20 and 25 times upon showing a single car. After each of
these levels, we will mail you the chip as it became very
confusing to everyone when we tried to hand them out at the
banquet.
The chips are yours to display as you choose, but they will
certainly fit easily on your preservation board. This is
just a very small token of our appreciation for our many
dedicated members who continue to support our regions and
AACA at national meets. We realize you do so despite the
cost and the fact that you may have won all the other awards
possible.
Thank you for your
continued participation!

AACA Library & Research Center NEWS

Revving up our Research engines!
Here at the
AACA Library and Research Center
we can certainly tell that the antique vehicle fleet is
gearing up. Last month we answered 100 questions and are on
pace to field even more in April. Inquiries in the last
month ranged from automotive part identification to wiring
diagram requests.
What's YOUR question? Don't
be afraid to ask. As an AACA member, you are eligible for
1.5 hours of free research! All you need to do is fill
out our
research request form,
submit the $10 processing fee and we will take care of the
rest! If you are in the area and can
visit the library
there is no charge for on-site research. Our hours
are Monday-Friday 8:30 am - 3:45 pm. Remember,
we are always just a phone call or mouse click away.
Looking forward to helping you soon!
AACA
Library & Research Center in the Community!
On April 16,
Steve Moskowitz, AACA Executive Director, and Chris
Ritter, AACA Librarian, gave a presentation at the Dillsburg
Public Library entitled "Researching
the Machine." Attendees learned what the AACA Library &
Research Center has to offer and how to conduct research
on-site in Hershey or by the Internet, postal mail, and
telephone. The AACA talk served as the final
installment in the "CarLove" series of programs offered
by the Dillsburg Library this season.

Acknowledging Our 50
Year Members!
We have had a program for several years now to recognize
those individuals who have been AACA members for at least
50 years. The membership years do not need to be
consecutive, just add up to a total of 50 years. AACA is
honored to present a beautiful cloisonné pin (pictured
on the right) with a gemstone to these special
members!
The application for the pins is quite easy. Please call
Chris Ritter, 717-534-2082, at our Library with your
request. Chris will then research the membership based
upon our roster listings and we will communicate the
results of our findings with you. It is helpful for Chris
to know what year you "think" you joined and which states
you have lived in during your membership tenure.
Pictured on the left:
Carol and Joseph Van Sciver, members of the AACA Delaware
Valley Region, receive their AACA 50-year pins from Mike
Jones on May 18, 2008 at the Quakertown Airport while
participating on the Brass in Bucks County Tour.
