Don’t pass the salt-
Stop-worthy museum opens in Salt Lake City
SALT LAKE CITY – Travelers have another reason to stop in Salt Lake
City – there’s a new museum in town. The new Antique Classic Auto Museum
of Utah displays 100 cars carrying the nameplates of such marques as
Pierce-Arrow and Cord and Stutz. Later cars wearing Cadillac’s trademark
fins or Chrysler’s famous wood bodies are also part of the collection,
which displays cars from 1903-1970.
Not only does the museum display first-class cars, it also offers
visitors the chance to take some of them home. Curators Dick and Stacy
Williams offer only the museum’s duplicate cars for sale. For serious
buyers, another 300 cars are offered for sale at the nearby Classic Cars
International, a collector car sales business also operated by Dick and
Stacy Williams.
To find the Antique Auto Museum of Utah, look for the beaconing red
Studebaker just off the exits for I-15 and I-80 in Salt Lake City at 355
West 7th St. S. The museum benefits the Utah Homeless Boys Ranch in West
Valley City, Utah, and is open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.
and Sundays by appointment. Call 801-322-5186 or go to

“Alternative Fuel Vehicles: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow.”
Producing alternative fuel vehicles remains one of the auto industry’s
great challenges, said museum officials. The exhibit takes a historical
approach to a contemporary issue and features innovations from early
automakers in the steam- and electric-propulsion fields. It also
examines the advancements of today in hybrid and fuel cell technology.
Finally, the exhibit features possible advancements on current
technology and how that may affect the cars of tomorrow.
