 Richard Lichtfeld's  1909 Mason Touring

My 1909 Mason was built by the Duesenberg brothers in Des Moines, I
inherited it from my Grandfathers estate 55 years ago and started to
restore it. I took it all apart but---- I got married, had a family and
didn't have time nor money to restore it so I boxed it all up and put it
away. We moved several times and to Madison from Libertyville, Most of
the Mason was in my attic in boxes. But eight years ago I had bypass
surgery and while laying in the hospital I thought, if I die, no one
will know where all those parts go and they could be thrown out.

I then started to restore it. The amazing thing is I hadn't lost anything and I
still remembered where everything went. Having the original manuals
helped. It has two bodies, the truck and touring, only six bolts, two
men and 20 minutes and you can change bodies
(according to the manual) we have found it takes four men 20 minutes.

Lichtfeld Plumbing started in Libertyville in 1895 and the phone number
(326) is the original. I still have many of my Grandfathers plumbing
tools and when we show the truck I outfit it with the original tools.

We are looking forward to bringing the Mason back to Libertyville and
Lake Forest.  I may need some volunteers if I change bodies for a demonstration.
Thank you, Richard Lichtfeld

61st Annual Lake Forest Antique Auto Show

Fabulous Fins

                                                                                                                                   Of the Fifties & Sixties

We are celebrating 50 Years of Giving. For fifty years the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Rotary has been dedicated to philanthropy in our community and globally. Since its founding in 1959, the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Rotary has provided over $1 million to improve the lives of others. We are proud that our giving has helped to address humanitarian needs, improve education opportunities and alleviate health concerns in our world.  We embrace “Service above Self” in our pursuit of global goodwill, understanding and peace.

This year’s fundraising will benefit the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Rotary Foundation in its philanthropic efforts. Through the generous support of our sponsors, advertisers and donors we will raise funds for our Foundation to continue its 50 Years of Giving tradition.

The 61st Lake Forest Antique Auto Show hosted by the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Rotary Club

and the Antique Automobile Club of America, Illinois Region will be held on Sunday July 19, 2009.

Fabulous Fins of the Fifties & Sixties are the featured automobiles. A rare 1957 Cadillac Eldorado

Biarritz convertible is being showcased.

The show is the oldest and largest continuously run show of its kind where auto enthusiasts from across the region will exhibit over 400 historic and classic cars.  The Lake Forest Antique Auto Show is a unique gathering of owners, admirers and buyers of classic automobiles.  We expect attendance by over 3,000 affluent enthusiasts.

Charitable Opportunities

Sponsors

With your generous sponsorship support, the LF/LB Rotary Foundation will be able to sustain its

50 Years of Giving mission. As a sponsor, your business/organization will be included in a feature article and advertisement in the prestigious June and July editions of Forest & Bluff magazine sent to all Lake Forest and Lake Bluff households.  In addition, you will receive a full page color ad in the Show Book distributed to all patrons and exhibitors. Your message could be seen by as many as 35,000 people.

Advertisements

Another way to help the LF/LB Rotary Foundation 50 Years of Giving would be to purchase an advertisement in our Show Book.  The Show Book will highlight the event and will be handed out to all attendees and exhibitors on the day of the Show.

Donations

A third way to support 50 Years of Giving is to make a charitable contribution to the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Rotary Foundation (a 501c3 non-profit organization).

We hope that you will choose to support our philanthropic efforts and we thank you for your generosity.
