HVPR MEMBER CARS

This restored 1947 Ford Custom Tudor, V8 is named "Mr. Lucky", and  is owned by Al and Linda Crane, who reside in Tabb, VA.  In addition they have a restored 1965 Ford Mustang Hardtop Coupe 6cyl, names "Miss Linda."

This 1966 Mercury 4 door "Breezeway" is owned by veteran member Howard Hodnett.  This car is original and Howard acquired it from veteran member Bob Williams.  When this picture was taken Howard took the car out for the first time to an AACA National Show in Virginia Beach, Virginia and the car received its first HPOF, with 40K original miles.

This 1974 Volkswagen is owned by veteran member Howard Hodnett.

This beautiful 1956 Ford Thunderbird is owned by HVPR members Ken & Judi Lownes.  Ken brought this beauty to the HVPR 34th Annual RoundUp, in Newport News Park.

This 1978 Corvette Pace car is owned by Clay & Cheryl Drnec, seen here at HVPR's 34th Annual RoundUp in Newport News Park.  This original, unrestored low mileage car was acquired from its original owner.

This 1974 Chevrolet Impala Custom Coupe is owned by Dick and Elaine Tarr.  It was purchased new by Elaine's father (Alfred Alys) in 1974, dragged their boat from CA to New Orleans, was shipped to Panama in 1979, and was their daily driver while Dick was on active duty in the US Army there until 1982. A partial restoration began in 1985, the "serious" one in 1994, and the car was awarded an AACA "First Junior" title in Richmond in 2002, and an ODMA "Senior" in Roanoke in 2003.

Dick Tarr's 1966 Corvette Sting Ray Coupe was special-ordered and purchased new when he was a 1st LT in the US Army.  The vehicle went through a 6 year "frame-off" restoration, sorely needed after over 206k miles, and is now "home".  Click The Ex Officio's '66 Corvette page to review the restoration and its subsequent trip home.

This beautiful 1926 Buick, Standard Model 26-27, 4dr 5-passenger sedan, was recently acquired by Elaine Tarr.  I've always wanted a "square car", and truly fell in love with it on August 19, 2006 while touring Fred's Car Museum in Appomattox, VA. Fred was liquidating his collection. Some paperwork "issues" delayed closing the deal, but it finally arrived home on November 1, 2006. After some fluid changes and some "tweaking", it runs great ! It made it's "old car display" debut on Saturday December 2nd in Yorktown, where it drew many questions from the appreciative fans. We plan on using her to participate in some of the many wonderful tours offered by the AACA.  Click here for more pictures.

This is "Rosebud", Jim & Sally Bostic's fabulous 1930 Ford Model A Coupe.  Unlike many of her age and condition, she is definitely not a "trailer queen"!  She, with minor help from Jim, led us safely and swiftly to our Richmond destination, the Virginia Aviation Museum.  Brad Bostic & Dewey Sturtriege could be seen enjoying the view from the rumble seat during the entire trip !  What a great memory for these two youngsters !  Click here to see a picture of them enjoying themselves on the trip !

NOTICE:  Jim & Sally had an encounter with a deer with this vehicle. Click here to read about it.

This sparkling 1929 Model “A” Town Sedan is owned by members Sally and Jim Bostic.  Jim found it in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania in September, 2004, and Sally, the flower lover, promptly named her “Black Eyed Susan” to complement their 1930 Model “A” Coupe, loving named “Rosebud.”  The Sedan passed her shakedown cruise to the AACA Divisional Meet in Roanoke, VA in May 2005 without a hitch.  Looks like many more miles of touring is in this car’s future!

This beautiful 1932 Chevrolet "Special Sedan" belongs to Beth Hartel.  One night in the spring of 2002, the Hartels talked with fellow member Gordon Garnett, who told them that the car was for sale by a friend.  The car had been restored about 25 or 30 years ago at a Chevy dealer in New Kent, VA.  The dealer stored it inside for most of those years until the "youngster" took over the dealership and sold it to the person the Hartels bought it from.  It has graced many local shows, and even an AACA meet in Greenville, SC in April 2003, where it won its first trophy !

Beth & Hal Hartel's latest acquisition is this great 1928 GMC Chemical/Pumper Fire Truck, with a straight 6 Buick engine. We (the friends) hope "Big Red" gets up and running soon; we all want a ride on a run through the neighborhood. Here is Beth's "birth announcement".
-----------
He arrived on 6/11/06 at 2:48 PM and weighed in at 5,600 lbs. It was a long and difficult delivery requiring the help of several friends. He went into ICU having encountered a few minor problems as well as a feeding disorder (spitting up). It was discovered his carburetor needs fixin as well !
Prognosis: Looking good !

This is another of Gordon Garnett's great "finds", a beautifully restored 1955 Cadillac Coupe DeVille.  What a magnificent example of genuine 'Detroit iron' !

Barbara and George Amory are out with their "new" acquisition at the last Gloucester Car Show in May 2005.  The Amory's are recovering from a very devastating accident in April, while returning from a Ford Model A Club fun run to Chesapeake, where their previous Model A was totaled!

This 1928 Ford Model A 2-dr Sport Coupe was acquired by new members Nick & Marti Raffaele of Yorktown in the Spring of 2006.  It's already been out to many HVPR events, and runs like a top !  One unusual feature of this early Model A is the handbrake on the left side of the driver.  We Chevy lovers think that it might have been located there to prevent a panicked passenger from engaging it without proper authority !  Congratulations, Nick & Marti, on your "new" car !

This lovely 1931 Cadillac V8 Town Sedan belongs to Col Allan (USAF-Ret) & Mrs. Laurice Becker.  The Beckers are veteran members of the AACA and the Tidewater Region, but live in Poquoson.  They drive this beautiful car to many shows throughout the area.  It was captured here sitting in the parking lot of the host hotel in Staunton, VA, the site of the ODMA meet in 2004.  Folks, this is no trailer queen!  What a beauty it is!

This awesome 1922 Hupmobile Touring Sedan is owned by Terry & Pat Ward of Newport News.  It is definitely NOT a "trailer queen", for they drive it to many of our shows and picnics.  Terry received his First Junior award at the 2004 AACA Nat'l Spring Meet at Hagerstown, MD, and later received a Senior award, too.

This gorgeous creature is a 1937 Plymouth 4-door Sedan, proudly owned and driven by George and Linda Bennett of Yorktown.  It has appeared in both the Yorktown 4th of July, and the Williamsburg Christmas parades, among others.

This beautiful car is a 1952 Hudson Hornet Sedan, owned and driven frequently by Al & Delma Brenneman of Newport News, two of our very loyal, long-time members.  The vehicle was HVPR's 32nd Annual Fall RoundUp's Dash Plaque, in 2005.

By jove, the British have landed !  It's a super nice 1960 Morgan Plus 4, another in the fleet of George and Linda Bennett.  And no, I don't have the photo in backwards!  It's a right-hand drive classic!

This lovely 1968 Ford Mustang "Cardinal" is owned by Frank & Cindy Vaughan.  The picture was taken during the December 2004 Smithfield Christmas parade

Veteran member George Maculley of Hampton owns this keen 1948 International pick-up truck, dressed out for the 2001 HVPR RoundUp.

Here we feature the third vehicle in George & Linda Bennett's fine fleet, a superb 1967 Daimler V8 250.  This prized beauty is not frequently seen on America's roads, and we are proud to show it here at the 2001 HVPR RoundUp.

This is Clay Drnec's beautiful 1963 Chevy Nova SS convertible, seen here at the Gloucester Auto Show in the fall of 2003.  It has undergone a complete restoration, well done by Clay himself.  You certainly don't see many of these on the show fields !

Shown at the 2002 fall RoundUp at Fort Monroe is Ed Proctor's stylish 1960 Studebaker Lark  Ed is a great mechanic, and surely knows how to keep his ride running like a top!

This gorgeous creature is John & Helen Mitchell's nearly pristine 1977 Cadillac Coupe DeVille.  With power to spare, it can frequently be seen bringing up the rear in many HVPR convoys.

If you simply hear a roar, and see a big blue streak whizzing by, it's probably Hal & Beth Hartel flying along in their great old 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback.  What a neat way to travel

Shown here at the 2002 RoundUp is Past President Don Baker's 1972 Ford Mustang Mach 1

HVPR Treasurer Sara Hunt owns this 1964 Pontiac Bonneville.  What a fabulous automobile, and the right color for the Christmas parades.
