2008 SPRING RUN
HARFORD
REGION VISITS DELAWARE
Harford Region members visited Delaware
during their 2008 Spring Run on May 17-18, 2008.
The Fall Run was chaired by Sandy & Butch Moxley.
A total of 34 people in 15 vehicles participated on the tour.
Saturday consisted of traveling to Delaware City where the members visited the
10th Annual Antique Truck Club of America (ATCA) show that is held at Battery
Park along the Delaware River. After lunch at Crabby Dick's, the group rode the
ferry "The Delfort" to Pea Patch Island and visited Fort Delaware,
which also became a
notorious prison for Confederate POWs after July 1863. After touring Fort
Delaware, the group traveled towards New Castle and checked into the Quality
Inn, which was the group's lodging for the night. After a chance to relax
and rest up, the group walked to the
nearby Air Transport Command Restaurant for a delicious dinner.
After breakfast on Sunday, the group traveled to historic New Castle where they took
both guided and unguided tours of the many famous buildings from this
pre-Revolutionary War town. Some rain was experienced during the afternoon
but it was not enough to keep the group from enjoying the day. Later in
the day, the group enjoyed dinner and the weekend's closing ceremony at
the Arsenal in New Castle, after which the group began its trip back to Harford County.
