2006 FALL RUN

HARFORD REGION VISITS VIRGINIA'S NORTHERN NECK


Harford Region members visited the Northern Neck area of Virginia during their Fall Run on September 8-10, 2006.  The Northern Neck is the northernmost of three peninsulas on the Virginia shore, and is bordered by the Potomac River, Rappahannock River , and the Chesapeake Bay .  The Fall Run was chaired by Connie & Doug Harrell, and Sandy & Butch Moxley.  A total of 30 club members in 14 vehicles participated on the tour.  

Places visited on the tour included Colonial Beach, Stratford Hall (home of several generations of the Lee family and birthplace of Robert E. Lee), the Westmorland County Museum , Lancaster House–Mary Ball Washington Museum , Historic Christ’s Church, the Steamboat Era Museum in Irvington, and the George Washington Birthplace Memorial on Pope's Creek .    Lodging was at the Cheek Guest House on the Stratford Hall property.
