The ethanol issue

The addition of 10% ethanol to automotive gas is becoming nearly universal-- and ethanol does affect fuel systems in cars that were not designed to handle this fuel. Roger Bergeron, the club's technical adviser, has contributed the articles below to answer some of the questions related to potential problems. Several of the articles come from the boating area, but the problems are the same for us.

Mercury Marine's view of ethanol. (Mercury Marine)

More pain at the pump? (Offshore magazine, July 2006)

Gas pains. (Salt Water Sportsman, August 2006)

Startron additive. (Star brite corporation article/ad)
