Club projects

The Granite Region is an active organization seeking to involve members and people interested in joining the Region to participate in activities that promote our hobby. As such, we develop projects that interact with the community. One effort is the scholarship venture described below.

Scholarship award

The membership of the Granite Region, AACA, Inc. has voted to establish a scholarship to be awarded annually to a graduating high school senior intending to enroll in a college or other post high school training program in preparation for an automotive related career.  It is our greatest hope that a student would pursue a career in some phase of the antique  car hobby.

Since our annual financial situation fluctuates, it is currently a problem to commit to funding the scholarship at a specific amount. The Club agreed that a separate fund should be established to which members donate. Due to our current tax status, donations would not qualify as tax deductible contributions; however, members are encouraged to make whatever donation possible, knowing that it will go to a  good cause. We hope the first award will be made in June, 2009.

While the details are still being worked out, we hope you will take this opportunity to invest in our hobby's future. We hope all members will at least make a donation when re-newing their membership from now on. For more information, please contact Ken Sommers at MHUPP28@COMCAST.NET.

Applications will be available in the fall of this year.
