CHESAPEAKE REGION HISTORY
The Summary was originally written as a program to be presented to the Membership in February 1980 as requested by the President Charles Talbert, Jr. Read verbatim by the Historian at that meeting, but never published.
Corrected and updated 21 March 1983 and 10 June 1984. The summary was then published briefly as a giveaway to new members to give them insight to what the Chesapeake Region was about.
The real purpose of such a summary is to inform members in a brief form about highlights of Region History, since the complete history is found contained in many volumes filed in the Archives and not generally available to the general membership.
This final draft depicts the highlights of thirty-five years of the history of our existence. Further detailed information is always available to interested members. All you have to do is contact the Historian, who will always be glad to fill you in on details.
This update dated 04 April 1994, was presented to the Board of Directors. Then retyped and edited by Janet and Dale Hennings for publishing to the General Membership.
About the Author
The late William H. Miller, Jr. was appointed Club Historian in 1977 and served in that capacity until his death in 1998. Bill had an avid interest in antique automobiles, particularly those built prior to the 1930s. He frequently presented slide shows at club meetings that were much appreciated by the membership.

Bill's collection of club history started with a briefcase and a single loose-leaf binder. At the time of his death it consisted of twelve loose-leaf volumes of running history and a complete collection of Chesapeake Region Bulletins, Roster, and three filing cabinets of material. The Club will be forever indebted to Bill for his diligence in assembling our history and the thorough manner in which he preserved it.
