Annual Crab
Feast 2005
by Jerry Gordon
The annual Crab Feast on July 23rd at Patapsco State Park was blessed by another great weather day, sunny with mid 80s temps. The fine weather for yet another 50th Anniversary event brought out 104 Club members and guests for a leisurely outing of good fellowship and the lively auction of "collectibles" that followed the Feast. Of course, there was plenty to eat: steamed crabs, juicy shrimp, grilled hotdogs, roasted fresh picked corn, and a cornucopia of desserts and side dishes.
The Crab Feast is a cooperative venture that requires help from many Club members to set up the pavilion, obtain the food and beverages, prepare the food, and make sure that the facility is completely clean at day's end. Thanks to the following members for their help in making yet another Crab Feast successful: Bonnie Mielke, master griller Lou Mielke, Mary Allen, Ed Allen, Al Lawson, Paul Habicht, auctioneer Art Rutledge, Mary Wilhelm, and Tom Young; plus members who helped shuck corn and wrap crabs.
To ensure that the Club's most popular event is on next year's calendar, we have put a deposit on the pavilion for July 22, 2006. We hope that we can have an even bigger crowd to enjoy the day.
