Seven hardy Chesapeake Region stalwarts braved the
sun and eighty degree temperatures to attend the Strawberry Festival and Craft
Fair at the Augsburg Lutheran Home in Pikesville on Campfield Road just off
Liberty Road inside the beltway. Harry Wilhelm - 1968 Ford Falcon Futura ,
Ray Vanderlinde - 1981 Chrysler Cordoba
,
John & Lois Krupinsky - 1940 Ford Convertible
,
Jerry Ross - 1954 Kaiser Manhattan
,
and Paul Habicht & John Packard - 1961 Cadillac Coupe
.
We received for our participation a hot sandwich and soda and enjoyed a
delicious strawberry, ice cream, and cake dessert.

There was a large turnout of adults and children from the community who enjoyed the many activities including live entertainment, clowns, face painting for the children, and the craft tables. Lois acquired a beautiful pin and ladies wrist watch at very reasonable cost. The food court was extremely busy. Many of the residents of the home congregated in the activity room next to the food court where it was cool and live entertainment was provided. We spent time there and then sought the cool shade on the lower drive where our vehicles were parked for the remainder of the afternoon.

It was a delight motoring over on the beltway in
Paul's immaculate '61 Cadillac. This low mileage coupe was originally purchased
from Chesapeake Cadillac by the late Chesapeake Region member Tolah Bausman. The
car ran effortlessly with the beltway traffic and we got quite a few thumbs up
from passing motorists. On the way home we stopped at the Alex Cooper auction
house on York Road in Towson to check out another '61 Cadillac coupe to be
auctioned on the following Monday. It looked a little shabby next to Paul's
handsome original car!
