Patterson's Mill

Agenda: Our first tour of 2008 takes us
to a favorite spot of the Brass-Nickel Touring Region - Patterson's Mill
Country Store in Chapel Hill NC.
Patterson's Mill
Country Store, patterned after the original store of the 1870s, is
located on the historic Leigh farm and now houses one of the finest
collections of mercantile Americana in the country, including nationally
recognized pharmaceutical & commercial tobacco memorabilia collections. The
store includes a furnished early twentieth century doctor's office. Also has
antiques, collectibles and North Carolina crafts and gifts for sale.
We will start the day touring the back roads
of Wake and Durham County. We will enjoy a picnic lunch at Patterson's Mill.

Murfreesboro Tour

Tour Chair: Barker and Judy Edwards
Agenda: Our 2nd tour of the year will start in Weldon NC and take us back
to to Murfreesboro NC and the Brady
Jefcoat Museum of Americana. The Brass-Nickel 1st visited the Jefcoat Museum in
October 2000 and again last year.

The cars will be displayed in front of the Museum most of the all day. After enjoying the
BBQ dinner at Pork Fest 2008 (a BBQ cooking competition) we will return to
Weldon following the NC Civil War Trails and also enjoying many of the state's
historic highway markers.

Tour Chair: Fred and Sue Harley
Agenda: For our June tour, we will visit
the private car collection of a local resident. We will also visit his late
father's collection of brass cars.

Bedford Virginia

Tour Chair: Riley and Sandra Reiner
Agenda: For the dog days of summer, we head to the mountains
and Bedford Virginia. We will stay at the beautiful Peaks of Otter Lodge, which
is nestled between two of the three mountains that make up the Peaks of Otter.
One of the highlights of this tour will be a visit
to the National D-Day Memorial. Bedford Virginia was chosen for this honor
because proportionally this community suffered the nation's severest D-Day
losses.

Carthage NC

Tour Chair: Barker and Judy Edwards

Agenda: Our last tour of 2008 takes us to Moore
County NC and the small town of Carthage where we will enjoy the hospitality of
Ken and Patti Eder and the 3rd Annual Train and Tractor Show.

The show will be featuring steam engines, gas
tractors, hit & miss engines, antique cars and trucks, model engines and model
trains. There will also be many activities at the show including a steam
operated sawmill, a clapboard mill, thrashing, Z3 peerless pulling a 20 bottom
plow, a Rumbly pulling a 12 bottom plow, Stanly Steamer car rides and a old time
steam tractor pull. There will be Gospel Music, Food and Lots of Fun!
