2006 AV Fair and Alfalfa Festival

Pictured above are Patty and Walt Detjen. Walt was inducted into the Rural Olympics Hall of Fame. Walt has entered the Rural Olympics for the past 41 years. He won the tractor and sickle bar race 9 years straight and in 1972 set the record of 58.8 seconds, and that record still holds today.  Walt says he will be back next year at 80 years old to try again.

At the Rural Olympics:  John Knapp and Pete (his son), pictured above, came in second in the Potato Race. They lost by 1/10th of a second. Pete and Paul Knapp won the Model T race once again this year. Congratulations!

In the Alfalfa is King contest, Dennis and Margie Groven got a 4th place on their hay entry.

And the first place winner in the Antelope Valley Fair parade Antique Auto group goes to: Antique Automobile Car Club of America, Antelope Valley Region!  Thanks to Don and Irene Ross, Margie and Dennis Groven, Ray and Cherry O’Connell, John and Susan Knapp, and Bud and Billie Kelly for representing our car club.
