The club held it’s first car show in 1985 and has conducted an event each year since then. On June 7, 2008, Ancient City Auto Club will be holding it’s twenty-fourth show at the newly refurbished City Special Events Field in St. Augustine Florida. This show regularly attracts over 150 registered antique, classic and special interest cars and trucks. The entrants are judged by the members of the Ancient City Auto Club and several trophies are awarded to the top cars and trucks. Well over a thousand spectators usually enjoy the chance to see some really rare and historic vehicles, as well as outstanding workmanship to bring back their original show room appearance. Admission is free to this outstanding event.
The club was formed in 1983 and operated independently until 1988 when the Ancient City Auto Club received accreditation and became the Ancient City Region of the Antique Auto Club of America. Founding members Bob Quackenbush and Dewey Porter are still active today. Membership in the Ancient City Region automatically gains inclusion into the national Antique Automobile Club of America located in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The purpose of the club is to promote the acquisition, restoration, preservation, use and study of all types of motor vehicles including motorcycles and motorbikes. Any vehicle 25 years old is eligible to participate in AACA functions. The Ancient City Auto Club meets the first Thursday of every month.
